Mercy was born in 1961 and is the proud mother of Veronica, who will soon graduate as biochemist. 

Mercy herself has 12 years of school education, and is one of the luckier women in our project. Her brother owns a small pharmacy where she works, too. With the salary from both the jewellery production and the pharmacy, she has been able to pay for their daughter's education. 

Mercy is divorced and lives in an extended family house. It is a large centre courtyard house with a lot of approx. 15 m2 rooms, of which each family shares one room. Mercy has the "luxury" of not having to share her room with anyone other than her daughter. Some families have to live in just one room even if they are five or more people. The cooking is done outdoors in the common courtyard.
